Сирин, в славянской мифологии одна из райских птиц, даже самое ее название созвучно с названием рая: Ирий. Однако это мифическое создание отнюдь не светлые Алконост и Гамаюн. Сирин - в древнерусском искусстве и легендах райская птица с головой девы Считается, что Сирин представляет собой христианизацию языческих русалок - вил.

Часто изображается вместе с другой райской птицей, Алконостом, но голова Сирина иногда оказывается непокрытой, а вокруг неё нимб. Сирин также поет песни Печали, тогда как Алконост - песни Радости.

По народному сказанию, утром на Яблочный Спас прилетает в яблоневый сад птица Сирин, которая грустит и плачет. А после полудня прилетает в яблоневый сад птица Алконост, которая радуется и смеётся. Птица смахивает с крыльев живую росу и преображаются плоды, в них появляется удивительная сила - все плоды на яблонях с этого момента становятся целительными.

 

According to Slavic mythology, Sirin is one of the paradise birds. Even its very name is consonant with the paradise name: Iriy. However, this mythical creature is not some bright Alkonost and Humayun. Sirin according to the old Russian art and legends is the bird of paradise with the head of the Virgin. It is believed that Sirin is the Christianization of pagan mermaids which called wills.

It is often depicted together with another bird of paradise, Alkonost, but the head of Sirin is sometimes bare and there is a halo around it. Sirin also sings songs of Sorrows, while Alkonost - sings songs of Joy.

According to the popular legend, in the morning during the Savior of the Apple Feast Day Sirin bird arrives in an apple orchard. It is sad and crying. And after the afternoon the Alkonost bird arrives in an apple orchard. It rejoices and laughs. The bird takes the living dew off the wings and the fruits are transformed. An amazing power appears in these fruits. Since this moment all the apples on the apple trees become healing ones.
